“To take up meditation is to introduce a powerful force for change into your life. If you change your mind then the world changes too. Meditation can be the beginning of one of life’s greatest adventures.” |

The meditation society is resuming its weekly classes for beginners from next Wednesday the 2nd February. The classes are now on at the new time of 10am-12pm. The venue is still Room 50, on the first floor of the Atrium. (See directions at bottom of page.) The cost is €12 for the course, or €2 per drop-in session. This course provides a structured introduction to traditional Buddhist meditation techniques to develop awareness, calm, friendliness and happiness. It is suitable for beginners and requires nothing beyond a willingness to explore the possibility of change. There is no need to be a Buddhist to use or benefit from these techniques. The course is taught by an experienced meditator with 12 years of teaching experience. By the end of the course you will be able to set up and sustain a daily meditation practice of your own and experience the benefits of meditation in daily life. It is an 8-week course, starting on Wed February 2nd, with breaks in weeks 7 and 9. For those who missed classes so far, or whoever would like some written material on the techniques taught, please have a look at the teacher's notes here and/or notes from the Dublin Buddhist Centre here. If you didn't get your membership during Freshers Week, you can get one when you attend a class. And if you miss the first class or any classes don't worry: drop-ins are always welcome! Also, some of you who attended the course in Michaelmas term may be interested in attending a retreat with the Dublin Buddhist Centre (DBC) in Cavan from the 11th to the 13th Feb. See the DBC webpage here for more info and contact details. If you would like to be added to our mailing list so that you can be kept informed of events please send an-email to: Trinity Meditation Society. Any other queries can also be mailed to this address. Directions to Room 50: Go into the Buttery via the ramp, take a left and walk past the student bank and on through into the Atrium. Take another left and walk straight ahead through the door. You will see a stairwell on your left. At the top of the stairs there is a glass door facing you which leads into Room 50. |
